Bec
Therapy Assistant
About Me
Hi, my name is Bec. My husband and our three boys emigrated from Hampshire, in the UK in 2011 – the best move we’ve ever made, if a little bit daunting! We had never visited Australia and didn’t know anybody!
Shortly after moving to Perth, I gained my Cert III Education Support and Diploma in childcare services qualifications. I am passionate about Early Intervention and I have been able to develop my skills and experience as an Education Assistant whilst working alongside experienced teachers in early childhood classrooms. I have supported all students to ensure learning, regardless of ability, occurs successfully in a fun and dynamic way.
What are some of my strengths and hobbies?
My hobbies outside of work are based around spending quality time with my family and as much time near the ocean! We all love to surf, camp and hike. Taking our dog for long walks along the coast path and stopping for a cup of tea and cake is a favourite for me too!
What do I enjoy learning about?
I have a genuine passion for helping to support children’s learning journeys. Building strong relationships through fun interactions has enabled me to strengthen my ability to problem solve and ‘read’ children’s needs. I have a thirst for knowledge, a solutions-focused attitude and love engaging in autism-related professional development and figuring out what will work for each individual child.
Why do I like supporting children with an autism diagnosis and their families?
Working in mainstream settings has highlighted to me the importance of inclusivity and autism awareness in the classroom. Providing support to children with autism enables me to travel alongside them through their learning journey, helping them to become capable, confident learners, to build friendships and to reach their goals. So very rewarding and I feel very privileged to be part of their lives.
