About Me

Hey there! I’m Lily, a 20-year-old originally from Perth but raised in the beautiful wilderness of Tasmania for the last 16 years. In 2022, I made the move back to Perth to dive into my passion: Paramedicine. With nearly a year and a half left of university, I couldn’t be more excited! I love travelling and have driven all around Australia, and have been to Italy, England, Singapore and the Unites States of America – with New Zealand on the bucket list. A fun fact about me, is that I am the youngest in my family and the only one not working in the education profession!

What are some of my strengths and hobbies?

I grew up horse riding, starting at just 4 years old. Since then, I have owned 2 horses, and whilst I don’t ride as much now, I am still very passionate about it. In my free time, I enjoy arts and crafts and being hands on with tasks! My interests range from paintings, to working with clays to build sculptures or working with wood to build boats to race in our dam or helping build our cubby house! However, I’ve always thought I was adaptable and I easily get engaged in other people’s hobbies. All of my hobbies have taught me great strengths such as resilience, thinking outside of the box, creativity, problem solving, patience and being a fast learner!

What do I enjoy learning about?

I have always been very interested in math and science, especially human biology and algebra. Understanding how the body works and the complexities of it at a deeper level is fascinating, which is why I chose paramedicine. Additionally, the ability in maths to solve problems and reveal patterns in the equations I always found interesting and enjoyable! From a wellbeing standpoint, I enjoy exploring mindsets and mentality perspectives. Embracing a growth mindset has transformed my approach to challenges, allowing me to be more resilient and open to continuous learning and self-improvement, and view setbacks as opportunities for growth!

Why do I like supporting children with an autism diagnosis and their families?

I enjoy working with kids and love their imaginative and creative personalities; seeing them grow and become more confident in themselves is extremely rewarding! I grew up in a neurodiverse household, with my older sister having an ASD diagnosis. Because of this, I have a large understanding for the need for consistency and structure in day-to-day life, but also that everyone is capable of achieving, even if it’s at a different pace! Celebrating wins and seeing big smiles on faces of the kids and parents is extremely contagious and brings a big smile to mine!
