Mel

Support Worker

About Me

My name is Melissa, I was born in Northern Ireland and in 2022 I travelled all of South East Asia for eight months immersing myself into the culture and way of life before moving to Australia 18 months ago. I have previously worked in supporting children with an autism diagnosis as a Learning Support Assistant in my local High School for three years.

What are some of my strengths and hobbies?

I am a very active person and I love all types of sports, whether that’s playing or just watching. My favourite sports would include Swimming, Running, Hockey, Golf and Rugby. I am a very happy person and I love and appreciate the little things in life like a delicious meal, a cup of coffee with a friend or a good book to read. My biggest strengths are that I am patient, fun and I love creating a positive and healthy environment for children.

What do I enjoy learning about?

While travelling I was able experience different cultures and interact with a variety of interesting and unique people, this has allowed me to adapt and further my knowledge to help and support my clients more effectively.

Why do I like supporting children with an autism diagnosis and their families?

Creating a bond with families and children with an autism diagnosis is an honour and a privilege. Watching them grow and become more independent is extremely rewarding and there is no feeling like it!
