About Me

Hello, I am a mother to three grown up children and have three grandchildren. I volunteer and co-ordinate WA for Aussie Breadtags for Wheelchairs and support a number of other charities and recycling ventures. I run a small animal rescue with my daughter and we take in abandoned or surrendered pets and wildlife. I have four cats, and five birds. I also have 10 fish and five of my own personal rats.

What are some of my strengths and hobbies?

I am very big into trying new things and Iā€™m very good at crafts, I do a bit of woodworking, plastics recycling, and sewing. I use these crafts to make things to sell to support our rescue. I love travelling around Australia and seeing new things and fishing. I am very happy watching TV or a movie or going for a walk at the beach or the park! I am also learning to grow plants to feed our own animals and our rescue animals.

What do I enjoy learning about?

I love watching nature documentaries, and would love to visit Namibia and go to the Cheetah Conservation Fund centre to work or to be a tourist. I love learning new crafts and recently I did a class on turning weeds into baskets! I also love learning home renovations and diy projects. I can install a dishwasher now! I love going to Bunnings and looking at all the tools and plants.

Why do I like supporting children with an autism diagnosis and their families?

I feel very strongly about supporting families and children with an autism diagnosis because my own autistic son (now an adult) and I experienced multiple challenges accessing effective services and supports, and I would like to help other families have a smoother journey. I believe neurodivergent children should be included and welcomed, and able to access services and activities on the same basis as their peers, with their disability-related support needs being met by additional supports as needed.
